Primary Six pupils in Anambra State yesterday wrote Common Entrance Examination into Junior Secondary School One.
As early as seven o’clock in the morning, primary six students from different schools were seen going to their designated centres, some were seen moving in groups while some were seen with their teachers.
At Ugwumba and Our Lady’s primary schools, Umuoji, the students were seen with their writing materials preparing to move to Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, which is their centre for the examination.
Speaking to the ABS, the Headmistress of Our Lady’s Primary School, Mrs Rita Onyenenye and that of Ugwumba Primary school, Mrs Chinwe Okerulu explained that the examination evaluates the pupils on the knowledge of everything they were taught and compulsory for all the pupils aiming to gain admission into Secondary School one.
They stressed that Headmistresses and Headmasters are banned from going to the examination centres to avoid examination malpractice.
Some of the primary six students including Chinwe Okeke, Kamsi Chiadimfe and Chimamanda Oranu who were optimistic of their success, thanked their teachers for their efforts.
