As part of its efforts to boosting agricultural development in the state and simultaneously improve the living standard of Ndi Anambra, Anambra State government in collaboration with Rural Finance Institution Building Programme, RUFIN, has organized a two-day intensive training on financial literacy and record keeping.
The training was to enable farmers keep proper record of their activities to enable them to determine the level of progress after every farming season.
The farmers were taught how to make savings, when to request for loan and how to utilize the loan to maximize profit.
Addressing participants in Awka, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba, who announced that more agricultural loans are available for farmers, warned against taking loans for concurrent expenditure.
Mr. Onukwuba described the training as timely, noting that it will provide farmers with the basics in financial management, book keeping knowledge and skills to embrace another farming season.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the, Mrs. Stephanie Keri-Uzor enjoined the farmers to put to practice, all the information garnered from the training as it will help them expand their coast in agriculture business.
Contributing, the state Project Coordinator, Rural Finance Institution Building Programme, Mrs. Uzoamaka Emeagwali noted that the aim of the training was to ensure that farmers ventures are result oriented as well as to grow more farmers in the state with the objective of reducing unemployment, hunger and poverty.
Appreciating the state government, ministry of agriculture and RUFIN, for their support and commitment in the Agricultural sector and in enhancing the living standard of farmers in the state, some of the participants including Mrs. Beatrice Okoye from Ayamelum and her Anambra East counterpart, Mr. Augustine Udefi assured to be more dedicated and committed farmers.
