Recent partnerships aimed at repositioning the State hospitality industry is yielding more results, as NIRSAL Microfinance Bank has offered to assist hotels in the state purchase customer service vehicles at low interest rate compared to what other Banks had offered.
Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbabefo, who disclosed this at a meeting with hotel owners in Awka, said the bank, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is in the deal at five percent interest rate for a period of five to seven years.
Recently, a visit to Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing plant in Nnewi, hotel owners were informed that the Federal Government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Industry, is offering favourable interest rate for hotels that will purchase locally manufactured vehicles.
Mrs Mbanefo, who said the deal was in the interest of hotel owners, said with the latest offer from NIRSAL Microfinance Bank, Governor Obiano’s objective of making the State tourism-friendly is being achieved.
In his speech, Mr. Lucky Kanu, a Consultant to the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, who pointed out existing gaps in customer services, said the affordable interest rate is to ensure that hotel owners improve on their customer services.
Also speaking, Director of Hotel and Hospitality in the Ministry, Mrs Stella Anah, who noted that over five hundred hotels in the State are presently serving athletes and spectators who are in the State for the ongoing Police games, charged hotel owners to put into practice, all they have been told by resource persons on way of managing people and facilities to avoid spread of epidemic.
