Anambra State Government says it will continue to support the growth of Small and Medium Scale businesses.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba disclosed this when the executive members of Anambra Market Women Association visited him in Awka.

The Anambra Market Women Association is a non-governmental body that propagates the interests of its members, especially the indigent, across Markets in the State.

The association also has operational points in one hundred and five Markets of Anambra State.

The visit, according to the group was to brief the Commissioner on its activities and to solicit the support of the Anambra State government to its official inauguration.

Addressing the Market women, Mr Adinuba who described Anambra State as a foremost commercial entity, stated that the immense successes recorded in the areas of Trade and Commerce since the inception of the present administration, lends credence to their priority in the policies of state government.

He added that the government has opened up immense opportunities for emerging businesses, and promised to support the group’s activities beginning with its official inauguration.

Earlier, the leader of the Market women in Anambra State, Mrs Nkiruka Duru, noted that the era when women were relegated to petty trading was over, as some of their members have expanded their business horizon and become international business persons.

She commended Governor Willie Obiano for providing a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Anambra State, adding that his Wife, Dr Ebelechukwu, has, through the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, touched the lives of women and set a course for unconditional charity.
