Mount Olive School GRA Onitsha has joined other Institutions and Organisations around the world to celebrate this year’s International Women’s day with a call on women to help mentor and build confidence on fellow women and girl child within their vicinity.

Speaking to the women, Anambra state Former Head Of Service and Former Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Mrs Ngozi Melifeonwu maintained that though all human are equal before God, man and woman are not equal interms of family creation as God instructed wives to be submissive and respect their husbands in all things while men are tasked to love their wives as Christ loves the church, therefore they should not take the clamour for Equal right into their homes to avoid breaking it, which according to her, is on the high side now.

She challenged women to be focused and agitate for Equal right to education, protection by law, job opportunities, participation in politics and policy making among others while urging them to comport themselves always to gain respect.

On her part, the proprietress of the school, Mrs Veronica Osanakpo who spoke on building ones confidence, admonished mothers to always encourage their children especially the girls to build their confidence, urging women who are in elevated positions to mentor women and girls they come in contact with for them to attain greatness.

Resource persons who spoke on health, Dr. Nkiru Emordi took the women on “Peptic Ulcer and Anxiety Disorder”, while Dr Akunne Apakama who exposed the women to eye care, advised them to maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid acts that could cause them blindness such as fixing of eye lashes with glue among others.

In their separate speeches, some of the teachers, Miss Cynthia Anyamene and Stella Emakpo appreciated the parents and resource persons for gracing the occasion while a parent, Mrs Uchenna Anyaebosi, challenged mothers to always avail themselves the opportunity of gathering information as it will help them in their daily lives.
