To bring quality healthcare closer to the grassroots, a new Primary Health Centre has been commissioned at Mbaukwu, Awka North Council Area.
The health facility, built through community effort, in line with Primary Healthcare Development Principles has among other things, Out Patient Department, Matron’s Office, Consulting and Labour Rooms.
In her remarks at the event, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Doctor Mrs Chioma Ezenyimulu, said Governor Willie Obiano is determined to bring quality healthcare to Ndi-Anambra, which explains why he is revitalising Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, in addition to the establishment of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency.
She called for proper utilisation of the facility in accessing preventive, family planning, antenatal, and other healthcare services, including treatment of simple ailments, promising state government’s attention to the needs of the centre, using her Agency and others.
President-General of Mbaukwu Progressives Union, Chief Ozoemena Onyiliuka, and the Woman leader of the community, Mrs Amarachukwu Okafor, said building the facility, which began seven years ago, is a step forward in addressing health needs of the people.
The event climaxed with cutting of tape by Board Chairman of the Agency, Professor Josephat Ogbuagu, flanked by the Traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, Igwe Peter Anugwu, and officials of the Agency.
