Staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Onitsha station, have been charged to imbibe a new spirit of love and unity in order to move the station forward.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Orientation and Special Duties, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, gave the charge while addressing members of the establishment at the Broadcasting complex Awada.
Mrs. Obinabo who is also a member of the Board of Directors, ABS, reminded them that ABS is the mouth piece of the government hence the need to showcase government Programmes and policies for the interest of Ndi Anambra .
She called for hard work and commitment to duty.
On her part, the Acting Head of Station ABS Onitsha Mrs. Njide Ezeonyejiaku, expressed gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano for his passionate love and concern for ABS, while thanking the governor’s wife, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer ABS, Chief Uche Nworah as well as Mrs Obinabo, for their efforts towards restoring the Onitsha station.
She called on the workers to have a renewed vigour towards their jobs urging them to be the ambassadors of ABS at all times.
In their separate speeches, the Head of Programmes, Onitsha station Mrs. Ifeoma Udechukwu and her Engineering counterpart Mr. Ignatius Ezekwesili, expressed joy over the return of ABS Onitsha, and called for concerted effort to bring the station back to life through bankable content.
Also, the Head of News Mrs. Chinyelu Obiejesi, appreciated all that were instrumental to the restoration of the station, and pledged the support of her unit in arresting the dwindling fortunes of the station.
Head of Commercial Services, Mr. Val Oguejiofor who welcomed all staff back from Awka, reminded them that their job is multi tasking while assuring that the signals of both Radio and Television are stronger now, and called for richer programme and news content in order to sell the station.
The Chairman Radio Television and Theatre Art Workers Union, RATTAWU, ABS Onitsha Chapter, Mrs. Adaobi Adia, said the success of the establishment is all about unity and team work and called for the training and retraining of staff.
In separate interviews some of the staff including Mr. Candy Boy Okosi and Mrs. Miriam Chukwuma , thanked
Governor Obiano for his love and promised not to disappoint him.
Suggestions on how to improve on the station’s programme and news content and way forward formed the highpoint of the meeting.
