The Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Dr Rufus Adejugbe says traditional rulers have great roles to play in uniting Nigerians.
He spoke when he visited the traditional ruler of Omor in Ayamelum Local Government Area, Igwe Chris Oranu.
Dr Adejugbe maintained that Omor and his people share many things in common like farming, culture and tradition among others, describing Igwe Oranu as complete gentle man who is doing great things for his people.
The Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Greg Nwakoby noted that Dr Adejugbe has within one year of his appointment as the Chancellor of the University, brought innovations and development to the institution and described him as a detribalized Nigerian.
In a speech, Igwe Oranu appreciated the Chancellor for the visit, assuring that the relationship between his people and that of Ado Ekiti will continue to flourish.
The Chairman, South East Council of traditional rulers, Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha, management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and others were present at the ceremony while Governor Willie Obiano was represented by Professor Pascal Oguno of the University.
The event featured presentation of an elephant tusk as gift to the Chancellor by Igwe Oranu.
