Nigerian Red Cross Society Honours Njikoka Council TC Chairman Ozoh, Wife As Patron, Mother General

The Local Government System in Anambra State has been described as the best and most functional in the country.

The State Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Professor Peter Katchy gave the commendation during the investiture of the Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State Mr. George Ozoh and his wife Lady Vivian Ozoh as the Patron and Mother General of Njikoka Division of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State Branch.

Professor Katchy presented several awards to the New Patron and the Mother General which include among others, The Pillar of Solferino for Humanity Award and an Award of Excellence as the best Local Government Chairman in Anambra State for his response to the service to humanity with an accompanying trophy.

Professor Katchy who decorated the New Patron and the Mother General explained that the investiture is not only of choice but a statutory position according to the Red Cross Act 1960.

He noted that Mr. Ozoh has distinguished himself as the best Transition Committee Chairman in the State both in physical development and humanitarian services and urged the New Patron and the Mother General to carefully nurture the positions through full participation and support as they have always done.

The Red Cross State Chairman reminded those in leadership positions to use the opportunity to serve God and humanity by contributing in alleviating the plight of the less privileged members of the society to uplift their lives.

In his welcome address earlier, Mr. Ozoh commended the level of selfless service the volunteers of Red Cross render to the society across the world for the sake of humanity, noting that the Society has stood the test of time.

He recalled how he came in contact with the society for the first time in his primary school days and expressed delight that he was given the outstanding honour as the Patron of the society in his local government which he consider as a rare honour and an opportunity to join forces with Red Cross in rendering selfless service to humanity.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress Comrade Jerry Nnubia lauded the activities of Red Cross especially in Anambra State as second to none in the areas of emergency response and social welfare and encouraged all the members of the society to remain steadfast in service to humanity.
