The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne has advocated standard personal hygiene and sanitation in sanitizing the environment off diseases.
Engineer Ezenwanne was speaking in his office while commenting on the “World Water Day” which he said was designated to outline the importance of water in the life of everyone.
Commissioner Ezenwanne described the day as unique especially with the emergence of the Corona virus pandemic.
He noted that the present administration placed much importance on water and have developed massive water scheme through private – public partnership and in collaboration with the European Union has done ninety-five solar bore holes to provide portable water to Ndi Anambra.
Engineer Ezenwanne, who announced that his Ministry has constituted a Monitoring Committee to oversee the projects, commended the Governor’s wife, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, who is a WASH ambassador for the construction of VIP toilets in some designated areas which according to him has help to curb open defecation calling on Ndi Anambra to maintained a healthy environment by making use of water provided to them and ensure its sustainability.
On his part, the Acting Director Water Resources Department, Ministry of Public Utilities, Mr. Victor Ezekwuo called on the people to have positive attitude to water source so as to have good drinking water that will not cause health hazards.
