The Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has implored the people of the state to cooperate with all relevant authorities in the fight against the corona virus pandemic.


The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo made this clarion call in a statement in Awka.


Chief Odenigbo said that the deadly virus might not be unconnected with the negative climate change sequel to desperate scientific researches, and enjoined world leaders to get more serious in their efforts to restore and preserve the global environments, even as he called for fervent prayers for divine intervention against the pandemic.


He however commended Governor Willie Obiano for the proactive measures taken by his government to contain the outbreak and likely spread of COVID-19 in Anambra state.


The SEMA Executive Secretary also advised law enforcement agents in the country to be diligent in their enforcement of the directives of the federal and state governments on containment of coronavirus scourge in Nigeria.


Chief Odenigbo disclosed that SEMA in conjunction with other relevant government agencies have embarked on vigorous enlightenment campaigns and mass mobilisation to checkmate and minimise the dispersal of the disease.


The SEMA boss reiterated his call on residents of flood prone communities, especially in the riverine and coastal areas of Anambra state to brace for this year’s impending flood disaster.


Chief Odenigbo further explained that SEMA and its federal counterpart are already mobilising joint efforts for emergencies and contingencies likely to arise from the imminent deluge predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Institute, NIMET and Nigerian Hydrological Service Agency, NIHSA.
