The Anambra state Ministry of Transport has intensified efforts across entry points in the state to prevent any case of Coronavirus which is spreading at alarming rate to different parts of the world and country.


The monitoring team led by the Commissioner, Dr. Christian Madubuko took their monitoring efforts against Coronavirus to Ihiala the entry point between Anambra and Imo state, where the temperature of drivers and passengers were checked, passengers manifest and other safety measures taken by transport companies to prevent the dreaded virus were also checked.


The Commissioner, Dr. Madubuko said that the exercise was in line with the directive of Governor Obiano to ensure that the raging Coronavirus does not find its way into the state and also ensure that suspected or reported cases are well managed
The team also enforced the state government’s directives on the painting of commercial buses in state colour and design, while the collection of illegal tolls using state government unapproved tickets were also checked, as the vehicle of those who offended were impounded and arrest was made on collection of illegal tolls.


Dr. Madubuko who frowned at the manner in which state government directives are flaunted noted that those arrested will be made to face the weight of their offense.


The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on legal matters, Mr Chika Ekwenugo said it is important that the enforcement is carried out with all sense of seriousness to check the Corornavirus pandemic, pointing that the closure of borders is important in order not to jeopardize the health and well being of Nigerians.


The illegal revenue collector suspect, Mr. Christian Oforegbu denied knowing the consequence of his offence in selling illegal tickets in the name of state government.
