Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion has suspended all forms of public worship in all her churches and chapels including Sunday and weekly services, prayer meetings, faith clinic, victory hours and night programs.

The suspension which takes effect from Monday thirtieth March to Tuesday fourteenth April, 2020, is part of measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.

In a release signed by the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo, the Diocesan Secretariat will also remain closed within the stipulated period while Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday morning processions are suspended for the year.

The release stated that the Bishop, Cathedral Priests and their immediate family members will celebrate the statutory Easter Service privately at the Cathedral.

It directed the Clergy, Catechists and church teachers to maintain regular church offices, services, prayers and worship in the churches and chapels without their various congregations.

The release charged Anglican Faithful of the Diocese to worship at home or follow their church online services from their homes and encouraged them not to be afraid or discouraged in this challenging time as God is their refuge and strength.
