Stakeholders have been urged to intensify sensitization of people on the need to comply with the state government safety measures to prevent coronavirus from entering the state.
The state Chairman of the Nigeria Red Cross Society, Professor Peter Katchy made the call while presenting infra red thermometer, Masks, hand gloves, sanitizers and hand washing facilities to the ABS in Awka.
Paul Ezeoke reports that Professor Katchy who commended Governor Willie Obiano for his sustained efforts towards ensuring that the virus does not enter the state, explained that collective efforts and coorporation of the people would enable the government achieve the goal of ensuring that the state does not record any case of the virus.
He urged those returning from anywhere to Anambra to quarantine themselves outside the state in order not to frustrate the success recorded so far.
Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Uche Nworah thanked the Red Cross, the National Orientation Agency and other Agencies that are joining hands with the state government in the fight against the scourge.
Chief Nworah reiterated Governor Obiano’s message to people outside the state to remain in their present location to avoid threatening the state’s present free statues, while people should maintain regular hand washing and other safety measures.
Also speaking, the state Director of NOA, Barrister Charles Nworji commended the Red Cross for its contributions towards preventing the virus from entering the state and assures that the Agency would intensify mass sensitization of the people across the state.
