More Ndi Anambra are responding to the appeal by Anambra state government to support its efforts in stopping the spread of coronavirus in the state, and to also provide adequate care for Ndi Anambra should the virus be recorded in the state.

The latest of the donors is Dr. Ernest Obiejesi, Group Chairman of Nestoil and Obijackson Group of Companies.

The Obijackson Group has donated 4,000 face masks and 200 units of protective clothing for care providers.

Receiving the materials, the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu thanked Dr. Obiejesi for the kind gesture and assured that the materials will help the state government’s efforts and preparations towards providing care for possible victims of the COVID-19.

“We are thankful to God that there is no case of coronavirus in Anambra State. However, as a responsible government, we are getting ready in case of any eventuality. We thank Dr. Ernest Obiejesi for the donation of medical supplies and also appeal to other Ndi Anambra and corporate organisations, operating in the state to donate cash or materials so that the state can adequately provide the necessary care for our people against this ravaging virus”.

Continuing, Professor Chukwulobelu said that donating to government managed funds for situations like this is preferred all over the world to ensure transparency, as against donating to funds administered by private individuals. “The coronavirus pandemic poses serious existential threat to humanity. All over the world, good corporate citizens, individuals and organisations are donating various sums and materials to governments. We have all read about what Chinese billionaire Jack Ma did, he sent in cargo planes full of medical supplies to several African countries to help them fight COVID-19. In Lagos too, some banks and individuals have supported greatly Lagos state government’s efforts by donating cash and materials. This is why we are appealing to Ndi Anambra across all religious and party divides to support our efforts. This is time to close ranks in the interest of Ndi Anambra”.

To support Anambra State Government’s efforts, please bring your medical supplies and other materials to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Government House, Awka or donate cash to ANAMBRA STATE COVID-19 AID FIDELITY BANK, ACCOUNT NUMBER 5030112159.
