In a bid to curtail the spread of COVID-19 Virus in Nigeria, the leadership of Ojoto Akanasato union Idemili South Council area has commenced sensitization and distribution of some preventive materials to the people of the community.
The materials which were distributed at all the flash points in the community were face masks, sanitizers, hand gloves and hand washing materials, aimed at sensitizing the rural dwellers on the need to promote personal hygiene to be free from covid-19 virus.
Addressing his subjects, the Traditional Ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu said that the sensitization campaign is to roll out government directives on the containment of COVID-19 to his people as well as the precautionary measures to be observed during the period at all places.
Igwe Mbamalu advised residents of the community to be vigilant at all times and report cases of visitors or returnees to him or the Town Union.
Contributing, the President General of the community, Chief Donatus Anozie and a stakeholder in the community Professor Paul Ejikeme revealed that the community leadership has before now trained and stationed individuals at the various villages and markets in the community, to serve as trainers and inspectors at all the places usually known to be populated in order to protect the people from the virus.
Some of the residents of the community including Mrs. Eucharia Ogele and Mr.
Ernest Ejikeme commended their Monarch and the Town Union for their efforts in distributing the materials and educating the poor who have no access to information about the virus.
