The Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor has urged affluent citizens to donate food stuff to the less privileged in the State to cushion the economic effect of corona-virus on them.


Dr. Okafor made the call while speaking to journalists on the devastating effects of the corona-virus ravaging the International Community.


House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that while commending Governor Willie Obiano for distributing two hundred bags of rice to each community for people of the State from seventy years and above, the lawmaker noted that it will go a long way in cushioning the economic and other social effects of the corona-virus on them.


He stressed the need for the people to adhere strictly to the State Government’s directives to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in Anambra State.


He appealed to the people of Awka South Constituency One, to maintain personal hygiene by washing their hands with soap and running water regularly for twenty seconds, maintain social distance, avoid social gatherings, handshakes, hugging, apply hand sanitizers, among others to avoid the pandemic.


Dr Okafor expressed satisfaction that his constituents are complying with the State Government’s directive on sit at home and ban on events that involve more than thirty persons to safeguard their lives.
