The member representing Awka South Two Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye has distributed preventive materials worth millions of naira to the eleven wards within his constituency to prevent the spread of coronavirus.


House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwemeka Modillim reports that the Items distributed by the Lawmaker included hand sanitizers, face masks, hand gloves, buckets with pumps and liquid soaps.


While sensitizing the people on the dangers of coronavirus, Honourable Okoye enjoined them to thoroughly wash their hands regularly with soap and running water, maintain social distancing, apply sanitizers regularly, stop shaking hands, hugs among others to avoid contracting the deadly virus.


The lawmaker urged them to always observe all the government directives on COVID-19 in order to stay alive and prevent the pandemic from entry into Anambra State, even as he appealed to the affluent members of his constituency to assist the state government with cash in the fight against coronavirus as it cannot fight the pandemic alone.


In an interview, an indigene of Ezinator community, Mrs. Eucharia Onwumesiliobi, who bemoaned that the international community including Africa has lost lives and valuables to the pandemic, thanked the Honourable for taking a proactive step to safeguard his constituency from COVID-19.


The chairman of Isiagu community, Mr. Chika Nwoye stated that the gesture did not come to them as a surprise because the lawmaker has always come to their aid whenever the need arises.


Mr. Nwoye commended the state government for being on top of the situation, nothing that the proactive measures it has already put in place will save Ndi Anambra from coronavirus.
