In a bid to cushion the economic effects of Coronavirus lockdown in his constituency, the member representing Anambra West Constituency, Sir. Patrick Obalim-Udoba has distributed various food items to his constituents.
The event which took place at Umueze Anam, attracted Ward Chairmen and some Councillors of the council area.
Items distributed were bags of rice, noodles, alcohol based sanitizers, buckets, liquid soaps among others.
Addressing his constituents, Sir Patrick said that what he has done is to support what Governor Willie Obiano is doing in ensuring that Ndi Anambra have enough food to eat, at this critical time.
The Lawmaker who sensitized the people on the best ways to stay away from the virus, urged them to always adhere strictly to medical hygiene.
The Anambra West Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. Godwin Onyeaka thanked the Lawmaker for his love for humanity and prayed God to bless him.
Others at the event were, the member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Honourable Chinedu Obidigwe represented by Mr. Tony Nwakeze, the APGA State Treasurer, Mr. Isaac Obadiegwu, the Anambra West APGA Secretary, Mr. Samuel Okafor among others.
Meanwhile, the member representing Anambra East Constituency at Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Obinna Emeneka has distributed preventive materials worth millions of naira to his constituents to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the constituency.
The event which took place at Otuocha, the Headquarters of Anambra East Local Government Area was witnessed by the Presidents General and Traditional Rulers of the communities in Anambra East Local Government Area.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Items distributed to the constituents were drugs for cough, buckets with taps , hand sanitizers, gloves, nose masks among others.
While sensitizing his constituents on the dangers of coronavirus, Chief Emeneka explained that the move was to sustain the record of zero record of COVID-19, in Anambra State .
The Lawmaker explained that the preventive materials will be placed at all the communities and strategic places in Anambra East Constituency.
He enjoined his Constituents to always obey the directives of the State Government to prevent the pandemic from entering the state and commended Governor Willie Obiano for being proactive in the fight against coronavirus and assured that he will always compliment his efforts in this regard.
On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala described Chief Emeneka as one of the stakeholders that have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the health sector, adding that the state is ever ready to arrest COVID-19 in the event of its outbreak in the state.
The Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka announced that the people of Umueri has felt the impact of quality representation from Chief Emeneka, assuring that his community will put the preventive materials to proper use.
Later, Honourable Emeneka signed a twenty million naira memorandum of understanding with a drug manufacturing company for the production and supply of chloroquine folsphate, Zinc and Azitromacin in the case of COVID-19 outbreak in the state .
