The traditional ruler of Umueri Igwe Sir Ben Emeka has stressed the need for people to adhere strictly to state government’s directives to prevent coronvrius from entering Anambra state.


Igwe Emeka commendied Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts in ensuring that the COVID-19 does not enter into the state and thanked God that Anambra has not recorded any case of the pandemic yet.


He reminded Ndi Anambra that the virus is real, urging them to adhere to washing of hands regularly with soap and running water, use hand sanitizer regularly, stop shaking hands, hugs, avoid social gathering and obey other coronavirus advisory and directives of Anambra state government.


On closure of markets and Anambra boundaries and the sit at home order, Igwe Emeka said they are in the interest of Ndi Anambra, to ensure that every one stay safe urging them to endure as it may not last for a long time.


Igwe Emeka thanked Governor Obiano for distribution of bags of rice to all the communities of the state to cushion the effects of hardship caused by the lockdown.


The Umueri Monarch stated that they have taken time to sensitize the people of the area on the dangers of the coronavirus and measures to be taken to ensure safety, adding that they organized monitoring team that will be going round the community to ensure compliance and that there is no social gathering among other things to compliment the efforts of the state government in ensuring that Anambra remain free from the virus.


He thanked his subjects for obeying the directives of the state government.
