The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has charged Christians to stand firm in their faith in God even in the face of difficulties.

Bishop Ezeokafor gave the charge in a live broadcast of the holy Eucharistic celebration to mark the Palm Sunday, commemorated yesterday world over.

Correspondent Ngozi Obileri monitored the event and reports that the Eucharistic celebration was aired in a live broadcast on ABS 88.5FM Awka, 90.7fm Onitsha, and ABS Facebook pages.

The passion of Christ was read as it was told in the bible to refresh the minds of children of God, what Christ went through to gain them salvation.
Delivering a homily, Most Reverend Ezeokafor urged Christians to always accept afflictions even as Christ did so that they will resurrect with him on the last day.

Bishop Ezeokafor reminded every one of the need to give judgements based on truth as Pilate did because they will give account of their deeds on the judgement throne.

On the present situation of things in the country, Bishop Ezeokafor thanked God that Anambra is still safe from COVID -19, and advised people to see it as a reality facing the children of God by helping government to succeed in their desire to ensure that the state is free of the epidemic through being obedient to its directive on safety measures.

He acknowledged that the times are hard which is why the affluent in the society should reach out to those who are struggling to eat on a daily basis by giving out food stuff and money to the less privileged ones around them either directly or through the church.

Most Reverend Ezeokafor assured the faithful that the church is doing everything possible to ensure that they do not lose touch with religious activities especially this Easter period through the media, encouraging them to be with Christ in spirit as He began his passion yesterday, being the beginning of the Holy Week which will end on the cross on the Good Friday and to resurrect with Him on Easter day.

The event earlier witnessed blessing of the palm fronds.
The ABS will also bring on the same platforms, Maundy Thursday events, and Easter Sunday mass and services from both the Anglican and Catholic Dioceses of Awka.
