A report from Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area confirms total compliance by the Christian Community in the area to the directives on public Church services.


Staff Reporter Blessing Ijedibia who monitored the situation reports that all the Churches visited were under lock and key.


At Saint Philips Anglican Church Umuoji, the premises looked deserted while the main entrance into the Church was locked.


In a chat with the ABS, the Vicar of the Church Venerable Felix Ezeonyeche who just finished prayer with few members of his family, said Palm Sunday is commemoration of Jesus triumphal entry which should be celebrated by all in their respective homes not minding the situation on ground ,
He urged the faithful not to be deterred by COVID 19 pandemic recalling that something of such magnitude happened in 1918 but God in His devine grace delivered His people.


The story was the same at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church where the Church was under lock and key while few people were seen at the chapel praying and commenting on Palm Sunday.


The Parish Priest of the Church Revered Father Gerald Efobi said the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem paved way for the Passion Week which he said is the most important in the Church Calendar.


Holy Family Catholic Church Umuoji also obeyed the directive on stay at home, as the Church entrance was under lock and key The Pentecostal Community was not left out as some of their Churches were under lock and key.
