Nigeria Legion, Corps of Commissionaires, CNC, Anambra State Command, Nnewi Area, has embarked on sensitization campaign on COVID-19 in Nnewi to complement state government’s efforts in creating awareness on how to stem the spread of the virus.
The Corps during the awareness campaign which took them to major locations in Nnewi town, shared hand sanitizers to commercial bus drivers and also educated them on the need to carry the stipulated number of passengers to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.
The locations visited by the Nigeria Legion include Nitel junction, Amukor, Lacel site and Saint Mary’s Cathedral church road where they gave out hand sanitizers to drivers.
Speaking on the exercise, the Assistant Corps Commandant of the Commission, Lazarus Anyanwu said the aim was to create awareness on the pandemic to let people know that coronavirus is real and the need to obey all the laid down directives for their own good.
He said that they will soon extend the exercise to Onitsha.
The operational commander of the Commission, Edwin Uba who noted that the coronavirus pandemic is threatening human existence, stressed the need for Nnewi residents to comply with the stay at home directive in view of the high vehicular and human movement in the area.
Some commercial bus drivers who spoke to the ABS including Messrs Sunday Okpe and Onyeka Chijioke commended the efforts of the corps and promised to prevent the virus from spreading in the state.
