COVID 19 : Nwaokike Cautions Against Indiscriminate Use Of Protective Gloves The wearing of protective gloves in prevention of the Corornavirus pandemic has been noted to most likely trigger its spread.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Mr. Okey Nwaokike stated this during an ABS phone in programme, “Health and Lifestyle.” Mr. Nwaokike emphasized that wearing protective gloves does not offer all round protection against the virus, as the virus can live on the gloves and easily spread by handshakes but rather advised people to wash their hands regularly with soap and running water or alternatively use hand sanitizer.
He advised people to eat healthy food especially those rich in Vitamin C to boost their immune system and also promptly follow government and health professional directives to remain healthy and fit.
Mr. Nwaokike noted that no case has been reported in Anambra and commended the efforts of the state government in ensuring that the state is safe from the pandemic and for adequate preparations put in place for any eventuality arising from the Corornavirus.
Some callers during the programme, including Sunday from Awka North, Okenwa from Awka, Chika Nwankwo from Umunze and host of other callers raised an allegation of sharp practices at the closed boundaries, to which the Special Assistant promised to meet the Commissioner for Health, Dr.Vincent Okpala to look into the matter.
