The state chapter of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has donated medical materials to Anambra State government as it continues to brace for any emergency from coronavirus pandemic . The group, led by its state chairman, Mr. Patrick Obi, said that it had become urgent to support Anambra State government as the scourge continues to make inroads in several states in Nigeria.

Items donated by the group included cartons of hand sanitizer and latex examination gloves.


Receiving the items from the group, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, said that even though there has not been any recorded case of the outbreak in Anambra State, it was necessary to prepare for any eventual case.


He praised the group for coming forward at a time when Ndi Anambra needed their help the most.


The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, who was also present at the reception, said it was encouraging that individuals and corporate bodies were responding to the clarion call by Anambra State Government, which he noted reflects spirit of collective fight against the pandemic.


Earlier, Mr. Obi said that the items were to protect health workers and Ndi Anambra against the virus, adding that the association remains a major stakeholder in the war against COVID-19.


The state Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs. Edith Egbuonu, who was also part of the society’s delegation , praised the government for responding efficiently to the outbreak and possible case in the state.


Dignitaries present during the presentation were the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba and the Permanent Secretary, office of the SSG, Mr. Emma Ude-Akpeh, among others.
