In response to the emerging challenges of cost of living occasioned by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah, has shared food items to women in his village, Umuakwu, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The women, numbering over fifty, all went home with packs of noodles, tubers of yam, tin tomatoes and other food items.
According to Chief Nworah, the act was in emulation of the far-reaching relief policies initiated by the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to help Ndi Anambra brace the deadly scourge.
He noted that as the people were grappling with hardship caused by the deadly virus, it was humane to reach out to them as an act of brotherhood and solidarity.
The ABS Chief had earlier spoken to the women on need to maintain the best preventive actions against the virus including regular washing of hands and keeping social distance.
Some of the women, including Mrs. Jane Odezugo, Georgina Ndulue and Rosaline Okeke, in their separate remarks, described Chief Nworah as a habitual giver, who takes the needs of his people as a personal burden.
The youth leader of Umuakwu Village , Mr. Sunday Okeke who observed the event, said that the donor has remained a hope for the community through his year-round charity.
