The people of Umunnachi in Dunukofia Local Government Area, have received food items, including tubers of yam and bags of beans from Chief Festus Egwim, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IfeanyiChukwu Industries and Commercial Services Limited, as he embarked on Covid-19 outreach programme in the Community.
Presenting the items to the representatives of the beneficiaries, who will help in distributing them to all and sundry, Chief Egwim said the step was taken in response to the need to assist the Anambra State Government in cushioning the effects of the extended lockdown needed to contain the spread of the Corona-virus in the State.
Chief Egwim, who expressed worry over the news that the virus has found its way into Anambra State, however expressed firm belief that with best measures put in place by the State Government, the virus will be nipped in the bud, urging Government at State and Federal levels to roll out more measures to cushion the effects of the lockdown.
The President-General of Umunnachi Improvement Union, Mr Okechukwu Okonkwo, and the President-General of the Women’s Wing of the Union,s Lady Perpetual Uzuh, represented by Mrs Christiana Obiora, said the gesture will go a long way in reducing the sufferings of the people, urging others to emulate him.
A Youth Leader in the Community, Mr Gerald Egwim, urged the youths to help in sensitizing the old on measures outlined by the Government in containing the spread of the Corona-virus, praising the State Government’s measures in containing the spread of the virus in the State.
