Owerre -Ezukala Community, Orumba South Council Area Distributes Anambra State Govt’s Economic Stimulus Packages To Members

The people of Owerre-Ezukala in Orumba South Council Area have distributed among the eight villages in the town, the two hundred bags of rice, tomatoes and salts provided for the community by Governor Willie Obiano to cushion the effect of sit at home directive by the government aimed at fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The distribution which took place at the community town hall at Ishishi square with strict observation of social distancing, was attended by only the village representatives, women representatives, as well as youth representatives.

Earlier in his address, the President-General of the town, Sir, Anayo Emejuo, noted that the usual Easter annual meeting of the town was waived in total compliance with government’s directive of stay at home,adding that the small delegate meeting was to ensure that the governor’s palliative materials were shared accordingly to the beneficiaries.

Sir Anayo who expressed gratitude to Governor Obiano for carrying the people of Owerre-Ezukala along in many ways, assured that his executive will bring
meaningful development to the town.

He called on affluent citizens to support the Governor’s palliative gesture and advised Ndi Owerre-Ezukala to continue to uphold peace which the community is known for.

Also speaking, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South, Chief Raymond Onyegu, described the sharing of governor’s palliative commodities in Owerre-Ezukala as peaceful, adding that it was done in line with the constitution of the town and government’s directives.

The traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya, prayed for sustainance of peace in the town and maintained that the governor’s cordial working relation with Chief Onyegu and the President-General has uplifted the living standard of the people of Owerre-Ezukala.

Some of the indigenes, including Chief Aaron Udechukwu, Chief Sunday Nnebe, Chief David Nwobu- Okafor as well as the Anambra South Zonal Commander of the Ocha Brigade, Mr. Emma Obi, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful manner the President-General, Sir Anayo and his executive as well as the traditional ruler, Igwe Ogbonnaya handled the sharing of the government’s palliative materials to the beneficiaries in the town.
