A brush between Police men on patrol along the New Tyre Nkpor market and some traders around the area have has cost the life of a young man in his twenties. Some police officers were also bathed with acid by protesters.

The incident occurred as Police men enforcing the sit -at -home order by Anambra state government tried to scatter people that gathered in the area.

Reacting to the incident, Anambra state Commissioner of Police, John Abang said the young man identified as Ebuka Agbaja and a resident of Frank More street Nkpor, was shot by a police officer identified as Corporal Christopher Ozor. He said it was in self defence, as youths around the New Tyre market attacked the officers with acid while they were on their official patrol exercise in the area.

Mr. Abang who presented some evidence, including uniform and gun of the police officer, victim of the acid attack, called on Ndi Anambra to stop taking laws into their hands and to adhere strictly to the sit- at -home order as it is for the good of all.

Expressing dislike over the development, some of the residents in the area, including Messrs Emmanuel Azudiugu and Anthony Enuke called on government to investigate the matter in view of giving the deceased deserved justice.
