Information is power. It gives hope, it livens the mind and heart of people, it is like a light that, when present, cannot be denied and disputed in its form and nature of existence. Failure to being and staying informed is a step to being deformed and shattered.

Regrettably, the outbreak of coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19 has been accompanied by different threats to the world. Nations of the world are currently trying to adjust themselves on account of the pandemic. It has rattled the ideologies of the learned, brought to nothing the wisdom of the advanced nations, defiled medical inquiry and brought the world to a halt.

The disease has brought fear and uncertainty to the world. People do not want to lose their lives, property and loved ones. The panic has even brought a sort of sanity to the mentally deranged, while professional beggars on the streets are crying for attention as little or no clear cut attention is given to them. People are only inclined to their survival instinct.

However, the greatest panacea to curbing, at least, the heart and emotional experiences across the globe, is to stay and get informed about the global pandemic, especially its realities and dynamics as it affects various countries and environment.

Regrettably, what is invoke these days is illicit, blatant and unguided mass flow of unchecked, invalidated and unverified information across the globe, especially developing nations. For instance, there have been stories of the use of a particular drug to curtail the effect of the pandemic. According to a news report, upon hearing the story, many people, without doctor’s prescription, flooded some pharmacies and drug retail shops, searching for the drug which landed some of them in the hospital due to large and unguided intake.

In the same vein, report has it that some people use different types of alcoholic content to lubricate and rob across their body. This was reported to have caused enormous damage to the skin.

People have been misinformed many times, especially through the social media, which is interpreted as fake news. Some have suffered from heart-related diseases, especially high blood pressure, due to the dispersal of wrong information to the populace. Few years ago, many people died after bathing with and drinking large quantity of salt during the Ebola upsurge.

People should therefore be mindful of the source of the information they dish out to the public, especially now that every media platform in the world has taken up on the pandemic, both real and imaginary. Many people have lost their lives as a result of such fake news.

One of the greatest means of fighting such a ravaging pandemic as coronavirus is to first, have a stable state of mind, dissociate your mind from anything that will stress or subject you to fear, anxiety and restlessness.

At this critical time, people are advised to obey all government directives to stay safe. They should listen regularly to conventional and regulated media platforms such as radio and television as well as print media for such information. Thankfully, Anambra state government and health agencies have always kept the citizenry abreast with happenings through the media.

Nigerian citizens should stay informed, confirm and verify all rumours to avoid endangering their life. The pandemic is just like a wave which will definitely pass away, but do not allow the wind to pass away with you.

Your life is a gift and a treasure; it is worth more than gold. So, protect and preserve it by staying connected to the right information. Do not be misinformed.
