A member of the Federal Capital Territory COVID-19 Media sensitization
team, Mr Emmanuel Ohiomokhare, has expressed worries that new cases of
the coronavirus emanating from the community testing that started on
Monday in Abuja and covered areas of Mpape, Utako and Gishiri are
likely to be from community interactions.
Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports, that two hundred and seventy
samples were taken and nine of them came out positive.
This Mr. Ohiomokhare, said is a confirmation of fears that there would
be community spread.
He said that all other cases that emanated from the Federal Capital
Territory were from the city centre such as Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse
Zone Two, Wuye Zone Four among others but the nine recent cases that
came after four days of no case, were as a result of Community spread.
He urged the Media to intensify calls on social distancing and wearing
of face masks in public places especially Markets when they go to
neighbourhood Markets.
Mr. Ohiomokhare encouraged the people to continue to wash their hands
regularly with soap and running water in addition to making use of
hand sanitizers, as the community testing continues.
