A philanthropist Chief Dennis Okafor, has embarked on Covid-19
outreach programme in Abagana Community Njikoka Local Government Area, as he distributed food items to Umuadaike Kindred Orofia Village,
Abagana.

Joseph Egbeocha completes the story.
Presenting the food items comprising bags of rice, tubers of yam and
cartons of noodles, Chief Okafor, represented by Chief Afamefuna
Okafor, said the step was taken in response to the State Government’s
call for assistance in cushioning the effect of the extended lockdown
put in place to contain the spread of the Coronavirus in the State,
calling on wealthy individuals to join hands in ameliorating the
plights of the people.

Chief Okafor, who expressed worry over high-profile deaths emanating
from the pandemic, and the fact that the virus has found its way into
Anambra State, however expressed firm belief that with the support and
measures put in place by the State Government, the virus will be
nipped in the bud.

The Chairman of the Kindred, Chief Sunday Anene, the Woman Leader, Mrs
Mercy Epundu and the Secretary, Mr Chekwube Nwoye-Mmaduabuchi, said
the gesture will go a long way in reducing the sufferings of the
people, urging others to emulate him.

They called on the people to observe all measures outlined by the
Government in containing the spread of the Coronavirus in the State.
