The Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Basic Education,
Chief Raymond Uchebo has distributed food items to women of Ifite
village Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area.
The event took place at his country home Enugwu-Agidi under strict
observance of social distancing.

Paul Ezeoke reports that bags of rice and tubers of yam were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Chief Uchebo explained that the intervention was to cushion the
effect of the sit at-home order which is part of many measures adopted
by the government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as
well as compliment various economic packages distributed by the
Governor to various communities.

He explained that the present economic hardship resulting from the
lockdown of the global economy requires sustained assistance to under
privileged members of the society whose source of daily income have
been adversely affected and commended Governor Willie Obiano for his
proactive measures to prevent the scourge.

Also speaking, the wife of the benefactor and Deputy Director in the
Anambra State Ministry of Health Dr Obiageli Uchebo, said the
intervention became necessary because most low income earners depend
on daily struggle to earn a living adding that the sit at home order
makes it difficult for them to continue with their sources of
livelihood.

Dr Uchebo urged other privileged people to feel for humanity and
assist the poor to go through the present difficult time.

In his reaction, the President-General of Enugwu-Agidi Town Union, Mr
Ndubisi Obijiofor while thanking the donor for distributing the items
to women of the community noted that he has been assisting the people
in many ways in the past and urged the people to continue to comply
with all safety directives including observing social distancing and
regular hand washing among others.

Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs Bessy Mmadumbu, Mrs Kate Okameme, Mrs Elizabeth Okonkwo and Mrs Felicia Okoye thanked the donor for his benevolence and prayed God to continue to bless him.
