The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province Of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has distributed some food items to help in cushioning the effects of COVID-19 in all the parishes in Awka Diocese.

Most Reverend Ibezim who is also the Anglican Bishop Of Awka Diocese, said that the items which includes one hundred thousand kilogramme of rice, cartoons of noddles, cartons of biscuits,hand sanitizer and tubers of yam was to compliment those distributed earlier to alleviate the plight the poor people in the diocese

.
Religion Correspondent, Amaka Chibuzor Okoye was there and reports that while distributing the items through all the Archdeacons in the seventeen Archdeacory in the diocese of Awka at Emmaus House, Most Reverend Ibezim said that the pandemic has caused a lot of hardships to people more especially the down trodden stating that the gesture was in keeping faith and showing love to their flocks assuring that the plight will not remain forever.

The Archbishop urged pastors to work together as it is a time for churches to show her relivance to the followers while the affluent should convert their wealth to Kingdom value by extending help to the poor.
The Anglican Prelate commended the Women Ministry headed by his wife Mrs Martha Ibezim, the Knights of the church and others who donated the items to cushion the hardships occasioned by the pandemic .

On her part,the President, Mother’s Union,Women’s and Girls Guild Province Of The Niger, Mrs Martha Ibezim extolled Most Reverend Ibezim for the bold steps taken,stating that the gesture is to show concern,love and care to the poor among them calling on women to use this period of sit_at home to rekindle family ties, establish alters and more importantly be closer to their spouses and children.


In appreciations, the Chairman, Diocesan Clergy Association and Archdeacon,Ichida Archdeacory, Venerable David Monanu said that the relief items will be a source of encouragement to their members as many are suffering in a moment like this, lamenting that the Corona virus sit at home has exposed many to untold hardships and commended the Archbishop and Wife for the distributions which he said will go along way in putting smile and reduce hunger in the lives of many .
