Njikoka Council Area has commenced the distribution of foodstuffs worth millions of naira to the six Communities in the Council.

The Transition Committee Chairman of the Council Area, Chief George Ozo handed over the food items at Abagana, in Njikoka Council Area to the community leaders for onward distribution in the six communities of the local government area while observing the social distancing rule and ensuring sanitizing of hands before receiving their foodstuffs.

According to the Council Chairman , Chief Ozo, the distribution is a way of alleviating the hardships of the present lockdown.

He said that food items are targeted to reach over fifty homes in each of the communities in the local government through credible stakeholders in the area.

Also speaking, the wife of the local government Chairman, Mrs. Vivian Ozo and The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Njikoka, Elder Charles Okongwu commended the state government for its rapid response towards preventing the spread of the Coronavirus and advised the state citizenry to remain supportive by staying indoors as well reach out to their neighbors whose daily feeding depends on their daily incomes .

In their separate reactions, Mr. Uchenna Uzoanwu from Abagana and Lady Josephine Ilokanuno from Nimo said that the gesture clearly showed that Governor Willie Obiano selected people of good repute that will replicate his humane nature in all parts of the state.

The Njikoka Local Government Council had before the commcement of the distribution observed one minute silence in honour of those who died of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria and across the globe.
