The traditional ruler of Ihiala, Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu and his cabinet
members have reached out to their people through distribution of food
items.
Kenechukwu Chukwudi covered the distribution exercise
and reports that the items which included over two hundred and fifty bags of fifty Kilograms of rice, fifty bags of salt and also fifty cartons of tin
tomatoes were distributed to communities within Ihiala through their
leaders.
Igwe Obidiegwu noted that apart from the items being palliative to
cushion the effect of the lock down on the vulnerable and needy, they were
also a way of appreciating them for their compliance with the government’s directive to stay at home to check the Corornavirus
pandemic, assuring that the gesture will be a continuous one.
The President General of Ihiala Mr. Okey Chukwu, represented by
Engineer Jude Obi, who’s the first Vice President General of Ihiala, commended the harmonious working relationship between the
traditional ruler and his cabinet members, including other key
stakeholders , while the Senior Special Assistant
to the Governor on Justice, Ifeanyi Ezeka pointed out that a strict
measure has been put in place to ensure that the items get to the
people it was meant for.
Some recipients of the items on behalf of the beneficiaries,
including, Mr. Marcel Udeze and Mrs. Amaka Anasigwe said the gesture
will go a long way in assisting them and advised that they always take
precautionary measures against the COVID-19.
