The Anambra State House of Assembly Adhoc Committee on COVID-19 has expressed satisfaction with the proactive measures taken by the State government to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The committee made the assertion when it visited the protection centres in the state, in Onitsha, Aguleri, Umuawulu- Mbaukwu.

Speaking to journalists after inspection of facilities on ground at the protection centres, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Pascal Agbodike, said that the Committee was satisfied with the level of preparation the state had put in place to fight the spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.


Dr Agbodike observed that the facilities on ground are amazing and showed that the state is combat ready to contain the spread or emergency of the virus in the state, even as he commended Governor Willie Obiano for the provision of the needed facilities to contain the spread and handling of the coronavirus in all the centres.

Some members of the Committee, Dr Timothy Ifedioramma and Honourable Edward Ibuzo, urged Ndi Anambra to always apply all the state government’s directives on COVID-19 to forestall further spread of the pandemic in the state, nothing that with the measures government has put in place, the state will not record another case of coronavirus disease.
Receiving members of the committee at the various centres, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala explained that the protection centres have enough ventilators, oxygen and air conditioning environment to cater for any case in the state.


According to him, Umuawulu-Mbaukwu protection Centre has three units designated for male, women and children, nothing that the three units have total of two hundred and forty beds, while the centres at Onitsha General hospital has fifty eight beds and Aguleri has ten beds.
