Nzuko Umuada Anambra International Initiative, UAAII, has
presented a cheque for five hundred thousand naira to Anambra state
government to aid the fight against the novel coronavirus disease.
UAAII is a non- profit socio-cultural women body that propagates the
interests of Anambra women across the globe.

Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe reports that the
organization, which is just six months old, said that it was
motivated by what the wife of the Governor of Anambra state, Dr
Ebelechukwu Obiano has done in the lives of women, especially the
poor, through her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE.

The Secretary to the government of Anambra state, Professor Solo
Chukwulobelu, who received the cheque on behalf of the state
government, pointed to the indispensability of Umuada as one of the
strongest voices in Igbo ethno-cultural setting, noting that their
assistance is important to Anambra state government.

On his part, the Chief of Staff to Governor Willie Obiano, Chief
Primus Odili, who was also part of the government delegation that
received the donors, asked Ndi Anambra to be careful as the virus
remains deadly.

Earlier, the South East Zonal Coordinator of the Association, Mrs.
Phina Onwuachu, who led some members of the group on the visit, lauded the responses of the Anambra state government to the outbreak
and added that it was through collective effort
that the virus could be defeated.

The group is the one hundred and nineteenth to have come forward with
either cash, food or medical supplies in support of the war against
the global health terror in Anambra state since Governor Obiano made a
plea for affluent individuals and corporate bodies to help the state
against the scourge.
