Anambra state has lifted suspension on congregational worship in the state.
Governor Willie Obiano, who made this known during a statewide
broadcast at Aguleri said that worshipers must wear face masks and
enforce all WHO guidelines during worship, including, regular hand
washing, application of hand sanitizers and social distancing among
others.
Government House correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Governor Obiano also lifted ban on movement around the state but
stated that such movements must comply with all WHO guidelines,
stressing that all boundaries in the state remain shut.
The Governor, who said that all food and drug markets should remain
open said that he will meet with market leaders on Monday, 27th April
to review the present situation while dates for re-opening of
schools as well as when civil servants will be allowed to go back to
their offices, will be announced soon.
While disclosing that all the thirty-six samples from the state sent
to NCDC for COVID -19 tests returned negative, Governor Obiano said
that the state is still awaiting one remaining sample and made it clear
that contracting the infection is not a death sentence and urged Ndi
Anambra to continue to exercise faith and pray, while efforts are on
top gear around the world to find solutions to the scourge.
He commended health workers, security agencies and those that are at
the frontline, fighting the pandemic, and announced that the four
doctors, two nurses and cleaner, who treated the index case will be
given a medal of honour, as well as cash reward from the state
government as a way of encouraging the health workers.
The Governor said that Civil Society Organizations in the state and
Anambra state House of Assembly Special Committee have been adopted
into the state COVID-19 Committee
He stressed that illegal parks
operating close to Anambra boundaries will be dismantled as crossing
on foot into the state is also not allowed.
He appreciated everyone, who has given any form of donation since the
pandemic started, asking people to call the emergency numbers provided
in case of any suspected case.
