It was lamentations and grief as fire razed down a-four-room bungalow
at Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The occupant of the building, Mr. George Obiegbuna, said the disaster,
which happened last Monday, started around eleven pm while he was
asleep but the shouts and repeated hitting on his door woke
him up.
Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that according to Mr. Obiegbuna, he suspected that the inferno was as a result of the Premium Motor Spirit stored within the building by a relation, who deals on petroleum products in small scale.
Mr. Obiegbuna, who emotionally broke down in tears said nothing was
saved from the building including his certificates, as life has been
difficult for him as a retiree from the state Water Cooperation.
He appealed for help from well meaning members of the society and
government to pull through with his family of six.
For Mr. Patrick Obiegbuna, who also lives in the compound, they were
all shocked to wake-up to the raging inferno but affirmed that the
timely intervention of neighbours and men of the State Fire Service,
prevented it from escalating to other structures.
