The Member representing Awka South Constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye has distributed bags of rice and cartons of noodles to his constituents to alleviate the economic effect of COVID-19 on them.
The event which took place at Amawbia under strict observance of
social distancing was witnessed by the Presidents-General and Woman Leaders of all the Communities in the Constituency.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that Honourable Okoye engaged Woman Leaders of the eleven wards in the constituency and Presidents-General of all the Communities in the area to deliver the food items to the most vulnerable persons in the
Constituency.
The Lawmaker explained that the gesture was to curb hunger among the
vulnerable persons in Awka South Constituency Two, who depend on daily income for their livelihood.
Honourable Okoye enjoined them to thoroughly wash their hands regularly with soap and running water, wear face masks whenever they are living their homes, keep social distancing among others to contain
the spread of the deadly virus in the state.
On his part, the Anambra State Head of Service, Mr Harry Udu urged the
people to always observe all the State Government directives on COVID-19 in order to stay alive and save the State from recording
another case of coronavirus, even as he called on well to do
individuals in the State to emulate Honourable Okoye by giving succour
to the needy around them.
In his remark, he President-General of Amawbia Town Union, Mr Ebele Nwufo commended the Lawmaker for demonstrating true love to his constituents and assured that the food items will get to the targeted
persons in the Constituency.
The Traditional-Ruler designate of Amawbia, Chief Chinyelu Molokwu and former Chairman, Awka South Local Government Area, Chief Mike Akubude
described Honourable Okoye as a good leader who is known for charity.
