Four doctors who handled Anambra’s Index Case, along with the two
nurses, the pharmacist, the cleaner and the ambulance driver who took
him to the Preventive Care Center are to receive a Medal of Honour
award from the State Government.
Also, a cash award for them will later be announced by government.
Governor Willie Obiano, who announced these in his latest broadcast to
the state, hopes that this gesture will encourage healthcare workers
to do more in the future.
The governor, who used the occasion to thank the law enforcement
agents who are putting in so much work to ensure that people comply
with the observances of Covid-19, also announced that members of the
Civil Society Organization in the state have been co-opted into the
Covid-19 Committee.
According to Governor Obiano, a meeting between government and the
leaders of all the markets in Anambra State scheduled for, today
Monday, April 27, would review the position and agree on when to
reopen the markets.
While emphasizing that all boundaries with neighbouring states remain
completely closed, Governor Obiano said all illegal motor parks
operating at the boundaries shall be dismantled with immediate effect.
The law enforcement agencies, he said, have been directed to see that
nobody crosses the boundary on foot.
The governor directed religious groups, leaders of the churches to
ensure that worshippers comply with the standard protocols of Covid-19
which includes wearing of face masks to church, use of hand
sanitizers, social distancing and regular washing of hands, warning
that there should be no crusades and vigils for the time being.
He advised Ndi Anambra to contact the Anambra State Public Health
Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) immediately they feel unwell.
The State Chief Executive expressed gratitude to Ndi Anambra for their
donations both to the State and to the various Communities, adding
that government shall keep updating the list of donors.
Governor Obiano appreciated Healthcare Workers, the entire Ndi
Anambra, for their various contributions to the success so far in
keeping the pandemic at bay.
