The commercial city of Onitsha is gradually returning to its business
status following the state governments relaxing of the lockdown occasioned by COVID 19 pandemic.

Correspondent, Blessing Ijedibia, who went round the town reports that
the residents expressed happiness on the development as they were seen
transacting businesses.

However, dealers on materials that are not food stuffs opened their
stores and shops against government directive that only food stuff
sellers are free to open for business.

Some of the traders seen think safety as they placed hand washing
buckets with running water in front of their shops.

It was also observed that the popular Nkpor Motor Park that was closed
few weeks ago has reopened in full swing as vehicles of various routes
were seen conveying passengers to their various destinations .

The daily artisans at Nkpor junction that disappeared Some weeks ago
have resurfaced at their stand waiting for jobs .

Tailors are now making bricks business as the sales of locally made
facemasks increases .

The story was the same at other areas like Upper Iweka, .Ezeiweka
road, Awada and Awka Road among others .

Commenting on the development, two traders Mrs. Caroline Onuoha and
Mr. Emeka Obimma while commending the state government for relaxing
the lockdown to certain extent prayed for total eradication of the
virus through God’s intervention.

Meanwhile greater percentage of the residents of Onitsha are yet to
comply with facemask order as they were seen going about their normal
businesses without face masks.
