A former Super Eagles striker, Mr. Emmanuel Emenike, from Orlu in Imo
state but born and brought up at Aguleri community in Anambra East
Local Government Area, has distributed about five hundred bags of five
kilogram of rice to the vulnerable persons at Aguleri.

The event, which took place at the residence of late Chief Felix Emenike-Ndiukwu of Ugwu Ndi Uka Aguleri, attracted both the young and old, who benefited from the palliative aimed at mitigating the effects of lockdown by both the state and federal governments.

Distributing the bags of rice , Mazi Okey Okoro, uncle to the benefactor said having grew up in Aguleri, Emenike thought it wise to remember his people stating that the land of Aguleri blessed them beyond expectations, hence the reason they feel at home at Aguleri more than anywhere else.

Mazi Okoro noted that based on his love for the people, the gesture
was to cushion the effects of the hardship and problems they
encounter during this pandemic and advised them to observe the
preventive measures.

The elder brother to the benefactor, Mr. Arinze Emenike said the
gesture is simultaneously taking place at Umuaga Orlu their home town,
emphasizing that his brother is a great philanthropist, who feels the
plight of people around him and commended Governor Willie Obiano for
initiating the process that ignited the heart of many to extend succor
to the down trodden persons, praying for peace and unity in Aguleri.

In their separate speeches, two of the coordinator’s Mr. Steve Asike
and Sunday Egwuoba thanked Emenike for the gesture assuring that the
rice will be distributed to all the villages in the community adding
that the benefactor has been showing concern, love, care and
brotherliness to Ndi Aguleri praying God to bless him the more.

Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Anekwunma Nwakasi and Obuko Udenyi
said the gesture restored hope in their lives.
