United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN-PEPOLAC, has distributed food items and face masks to indigent persons at Ugbene community in Awka North local government area, to complement the efforts of the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano in cushioning the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.


Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that items distributed by the group included forty cartons of noodles, face masks and handbook on imperativeness of peaceful coexistence.

Addressing the people, the International Coordinator of UN-PEPOLAC, Bishop Dr. Ozioma Ozoemena, said that the group is committed to promoting peaceful coexistence and positive living across the globe.
He advised them to stay safe by adhering strictly to the preventive measures against the pandemic which he prayed for its end in no distant time.


Also speaking, the Director, News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, who is an Ambassador of the peace organization, emphasized on the need for more wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to reach out to indigent people in the society this period that Coronavirus is ravaging the world, to help them overcome hunger.

On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Emeka Ilouno encouraged the people to invest more in agriculture this farming season, in order to prevent hunger from ravaging the world after the COVID-19 pandemic.


The President General of the community, Mr. Emmanuel Nwude on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the group for their benevolence and prayed God to bless them abundantly.


UN-PEPOLAC Director of Women Affairs and Child Trust, Reverend Mrs.
Happiness Ozoemena and the Director, Orientation and Publicity of the organization, Ambassador Numac Kalu were among the officials of the group that accompanied Bishop Ozoemena on the visit.
