Parents and guardians have been advised to make their children and wards available for immunization.

The call was made during a sensitization programme by the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency at Awka South Local Government Area to create awareness on measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

During the awareness at the Maternal Health Care Centers Amawbia and Mbaukwu respectively, Community leaders were enlightened on proactive measures against the coronavirus such as regular washing of hands, application of sanitizers, amongst others as well as the symptoms of the disease.

Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu, said that the strategy towards the sensitization in the Primary Health Care Centres located in each ward was to complement the efforts of the Anambra State Government in containing the spread of coronavirus.

Dr Ezenyimulu, pointed out that the trending rumour about the Covid-19 vaccine being distributed in Anambra State is false, advising parents and guardians to make their children and wards available for necessary immunization against other child killer diseases such as polio, measles, tuberculosis amongst others, assuring that the vaccines made available are safe.

Also, the Social Mobilization Officer in Awka South Local Government Area, Mrs Chidozie Fidelia, said that the aim of the sensitization was to educate the Community leaders who will assist in disseminating the information about the virus, as according to her some people are still ignorant of the disease.

Mr Chukwujekwu Ugbogu, a native of Amawbia, commended the efforts of the Anambra State Government towards ensuring that the information concerning the prevention of the Covid-19 reaches the grassroots.
