Governor Willie Obiano says the installation of Most Reverend Peter Okpaleke as the pioneer Bishop of Ekwulobia Catholic Diocese, will greatly further the propagation of gospel of Jesus Christ.

Governor Obiano made this known during a pontifical high mass to mark the installation of Bishop Peter Okpaleke as the Pioneer Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area.Governor Obiano who showered encomiums on the clergy, especially the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Provence, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke for ensuring that the Church effectively comply with COVID-19 preventive measures, noted that the installation of the new bishop will help to expand and extend the gospel of Christ to all the ends of the earth, and charged Bishop Okpaleke to lead his flock with the fear of God.

Governor Obiano assured that his administration is highly focused and prepared to ensure that the state does not record any case of Coronavirus again and said that his government will continue to partner with the church to move the state forward and wished Bishop Okpaleke well in his new assignment.

Bishop Okpaleke in his address of welcome, thanked all those who came to felicitate with him and promised that he will work with other Christian denominations to let the Lord lead his flock to greener pastures, especially in the face of the anticipated of increased hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also speaking the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, the Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, said that the installation of the new Bishop will help immensely in the growth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and advised him to always concentrate on the work he has come to do and always uphold and proclaim the true word of God.

In their separate remarks, the member representing Aguata Two Constituency in the state House of assembly, Honourable Okey Okoye and the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr. Emeka Ezenwanne, described the new Bishop as a sincere and dedicated man of God and prayed God to bless him and direct him in his new assignment.

The Bishop, Most Reverend Okpalaeke later announced those who will work with him, including, Reverend Father Professor Anthony Chiegboka as the Vicar General of the Diocese, Monsignor Jerome Mmadueke as the Director of Communications, Reverend Charles Umeorji, Vicar to the clergy, Reverend Anthony Ezeokeke secretary to the Bishop and many others while signing of the canonical possession, degree of erection and other documents featured during the mass.

The traditional ruler of Ekwulobia,Igwe Onyeneke, Council of Knights and Ladies and other arms of the church were in attendance during the installation.
