In an effort to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the people, Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation has distributed trailer loads of rice and yam tubers worth forty million naira to the people of Oraifite and parts of Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
The event which took place at Umueshi Modern Civic Hall was attended by the representatives of all the Churches in Oraifite, the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, among others.
In an address, the Director of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, Sir Azuka Okwuosa said the donation was the foundation’s support to ease the hardship caused by the COVID-19 lockdown on the people.
Sir Azuka explained that he instructed four quarters in Oraifite to send representatives to obey social distancing rule and advised the people to obey government’s directives on COVID-19.
The Member representing Ekwusigo constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly and Minority Leader of the House, Mr Onyebuchi Offor who is also an indigene of Oraifite commended the benefactor and prayed for Gods abundant blessing on him.
The traditional ruler of Oraifite, Igwe Daniel Udorji described Sir Emeka Okwuosa as a worthy son of Oraifite who has been using his wealth to touch lives in the Community and the larger society while the co-ordinator of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, Professor Benson Anene called on the representatives of the beneficiaries to ensure that the items were shared to the targeted people.
Others who spoke during the event included the representative of the President-General of Oraifite Community, Mr Edmund Ugwuezumba.
Some representatives of the beneficiaries thanked Sir Emeka Okwuosa for putting smile on their faces.
