Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala has assured that the state will continue to collaborate with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, UNICEF and other partners in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Okpala gave the assurance when representatives of NCDC and UNICEF called on him at his office at the Jerome Udoji secretariat complex, Awka.
He commended them for their support to the state on active, community case-search and sensitization of Ndi Anambra on COVID-19.
The leader of the team, Dr Chijioke Obagha said their visit was aimed at briefing the Commissioner on modalities for active and community case-search on COVID-19.
Dr Obagha, who is also the state Epidemiologist, explained that the search involved house to house visit by the State Rapid Response Team, NCDC and other partners.
He also noted that the team would go with checklist, which would contain vital questions for individuals during the search.
While reveling that infrared thermometer would also be used to check individual’s temperature, Dr Obagha noted that World Development Committee Chairmen and Officer in-charge of healthcare facilities are included for easy identification.
The UNICEF representative in the state, Mr. Diden Gbofeyin commended people of the state for observing all measures as given by NCDC and WHO to prevent COVID-19.
