First City Monument Bank, FCMB, has donated eight hundred and fifty
bags of rice to Anambra State government to support its palliative to
the State residents.
Officials of the financial institution made the donation of the five
kilogramme bags of rice to the State government at the Government
House Awka, through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor
Solo Chukwulobelu.
Speaking shortly after handing over the items to the State government,
the Branch Manager of the FCMB in Awka Two, Mr. Victor Agumadu said
the gesture was to complement the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in
cushioning the effects of the lockdown occasioned by the Covid-19
outbreak on the people of the State.
He advised Ndi Anambra to continue to adhere to preventive measures
against the disease including social distancing, regular hand washing,
use of face masks, among others, in order to be safe.
Receiving the items on behalf of the State government, the Secretary
to the State Government, Professor Chukwulobelu assured that all items
received from good spirited individuals and corporate bodies are being
properly managed, saying that some households in the state are to
benefit from the palliative materials, as Governor Willie Obiano has
already approved the distribution of some of the items to fifty
indigent households that are properly registered under the state
Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Professor Chukwulobelu called on individuals and corporate bodies that
still want to make donations do so, as the government still needs
items to distribute to indigent persons in the state.
